Nestled behind the dunes along the magnificent Wilderness coastline, Thatch Manor on 5th provides affordable self-catering accommodation to both leisure and business travellers.
Hosted by Penny and Clive Tyson, this charming, coastal thatched house has two individual private suites ideal for that romantic getaway or a longer well-deserved break. Each suite has its own specific home away from home style with secure off-street parking.
Thatch Manor on 5th, conveniently situated just off the N2, is a short walk to the beach with trendy restaurants and shops just a brief drive away.
Wilderness is a small holiday town east of George on the well renowned Garden Route in the Western Cape. Sprawling stretches of white sandy beaches along the warm Indian Ocean coastline and picturesque hiking trails in the surrounding Outeniqua mountains, make this a most sought -after destination.

Our two spacious, self-contained guest suites have everything needed for a tranquil and relaxing stay. The Lavender Suite
This stand-alone thatched suite, with soothing lavender notes, has a king-sized bed which can also be made up into singles, upon request.
A private, outdoor area with a BBQ for al fresco dining adds to the holiday atmosphere.

The Lavender Suite is a thatched freestanding cottage decorated with subtle lavender notes, perfect for a relaxed, romantic self- catering getaway. The open-plan room comprises of a comfy, king-sized bed, which can be converted into two singles on request. The kitchenette is equipped with a microwave, a two-plate gas cooker, fridge/freezer, sink, crockery, cutlery and glassware. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet. In-room amenities include a 43 inch smart TV with streaming capabilities, using your own log in details, as well as the full bouquet DSTV satellite service. The free high-speed fibre WiFi is supported by a UPS for continued use during power outages. Additional items are included for use during loadshedding. Enjoy a barbeque in the cosy, private courtyard after cooling off in the sparkling swimming pool. There is safe off-street parking behind a remote-controlled gate and wooden fence, next to the cottage. The Lavender Suite is conveniently situated close beautiful sandy beaches, trendy restaurants and magnificent scenery.
The Blue Coral Suite
Adjacent to the main house, yet private and with its own entrance, this suite has a king-sized bed which can also be made up into singles, upon request. This coastal themed room has an intimate indoor eating area as well as a BBQ area which overlooks the garden and pool.

The Blue Coral Suite, with its coastal ambience, offers home away from home comfort in this spacious self-catering unit adjacent to the main house, and its own private entrance. This suite, with its beautiful view of the garden and pool, has a king-sized bed which can be converted into two singles on request. Amenities include a 41 inch smart TV with streaming capabilities, using your own login details, as well as the full DSTV satellite bouquet of programmes. Free high-speed fibre WiFi, which is supported by a UPS to allow for continuous signal during power outages, is also provided. The kitchenette is equipped with a microwave, two plate gas cooker, a fridge/freezer, a stove-top kettle, a sink and all other items needed for relaxed holiday cooking. Additional items are also provided for your comfort during loadshedding and power outages. The en suite bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet. An intimate area outdoors is perfect for sundowners and barbeques after having a splash in the sparkling swimming pool. There is safe off-street parking behind remote controlled gates and a wooden fence. Magnificent long stretches of beach are close by, plenty of outdoor adventures and restaurants with diverse menus are a short drive away.

The units are cleaned on request and charged at an hourly rate. Linen and towels are changed and the suite serviced every four days for longer stays.

Beaches
The nearest beach is 400m away and down a boardwalk. Other beaches, which have life guards, are a 3km drive from Thatch Manor.
Hiking Trails
Wilderness National Park has a variety of hiking trails, with waterfalls and wildlife, for the fit and the not so fit.
Paragliding
Experience the beauty of the area with a tandem paragliding jump accompanied by professionals.
Kayaking & Canoeing
Hire a kayak, canoe or paddle board and row along the Touws River through indigenous forests abundant with birds.
Eating Out
There is a great variety of restaurants within a short distance from Thatch Manor. From Pub Grub to Italian, Fusion to Fish, Mediterranean and Fine Dining
Golf
Golfers are spoilt for choice on the Garden Route. The area boasts many top class golf courses , many ranked in the top ten in the country.
Markets
The very popular Wild Oats Farmers Market, Mosaic and Scarab Markets in nearby Sedgefield are open every Saturday and are a fabulous outing for the whole family. The Outeniqua Market, in George, also open on Saturdays, has something for everyone.
Shopping
The Spar supermarket in Wilderness village is well stocked with daily necessities and delicious treats. The Garden Route Mall , 12km from Thatch Manor on 5th on the outskirts of George, has clothing stores, pharmacies, supermarkets, home decor, tech stores and restaurants
Museums
The Outeniqua Transport Museum, in nearby George, is filled with old locomotives and planes, vintage cars and model trains
